The Historic Gulf House Restaurant

"Always a friendly welcome!"

This site is dedicated to my Aunts Tillie Bosma and Chez Violette (posthumously), who together, spent almost 40 years operating the latest incarnation of the Williamstown Gulf House Restaurant, located on HW 14 in the Williamstown Gulf, Williamstown, Orange County, Vermont.

I am not an expert on the history of the Williamstown Gulf, but I do know that there were three Gulf Houses: The original Gulf House was the largest, and presumably burnt down.  The second Gulf House was called the Gulf Spring House, and I believe that it was torn-down to make way for a railway that never materialized.  The third and current Gulf House (depicted), the most modest structure, is still owned and maintained by my Aunt Tille.

The Restaurant operated from 1953 to 1988, and was closed for a few years around 1969.

Many of the satisfied customers still frequent the place as Tillie is still very busy with her grateful clientele.
